Overview:
Marea de Pasiones is a Mexican telenovela produced by Giselle González for TelevisaUnivision and originally broadcast on Las Estrellas from March 18 to September 1, 2024. It is based on the Portuguese telenovela Paixão (2017), created by Inês Gomes. Adapted by Juan Carlos Alcalá, with direction by Alba Gil and Eric Morales, the telenovela stars Oka Giner, Matías Novoa, Margarita Muñoz, Alejandro de la Madrid, Luz María Jerez, Blanca Guerra, Ana Belena, and Sergio Reynoso. The story follows Luisa Aldama, a talented marine biologist whose life changes after she falls in love with Marcelo, a married businessman. When a tragic event forces her to flee, Luisa begins a new life under difficult circumstances while trying to protect those she loves. As family secrets, betrayal, revenge, and forbidden love intertwine, she must confront her past to uncover the truth and find justice and happiness.

The show had gained popularity among teens and children not only in Mexico but also internationally including Venezuela, Spain and the in United States. With concert performances filling major auditoriums and songs by the protagonist become radio hits. It debuted in the United States on Univision in March 2008 and ended on January 26, 2009. The series consisted of 224 episodes which aried Monday through Friday at 3 P.M, intentionally for teenagers to watch after school, as is typical for most teenage & children telenovelas in Spanish networks.
