This situation brings one face to face with the dangers of the mountain: avalanches, crevasses, fog, the climbing of the rocks, roping up, etc. All of this is magnified, transcended by a remarkable and strong use of the language of cinema. Much nerve is required by those who participate in this sport as some of the curves of the course are most acute and dangerous, especially at the speed which is indulged in. Several accidents are recorded. The last portion shows another dangerous pastime, viz., Jumping into space from a raised platform, with the American Toboggan.

Midwinter Sports in Quebec
Quebec stands 200 feet above the lower town, dominating the entire landscape. Along Duffern Terrace there runs the toboggan slide, which at night is brilliantly illuminated. Also there are ski-jumping contests that will give thrills of pleasure. Snow-shoe hiking is popular with those who prefer it, and many a cross-country hike is taken on snow five feet deep or more. Then, too, there are dog sled races, curling-club matches, coasting and tea dances. The pictures of these sports were taken while the thermometer registered from ten to thirty degrees below zero. Besides sports there are many historical points of interest in Quebec. The Chateau Frontenac, overlooking the Duffern Terrace, the lower city and ice-choked St. Lawrence River, stands on the site of the historic Fort Louis, former stronghold of the French and English governors of the Province of Quebec. The famous battlefield where the English general Wolfe died is a particular point of interest.

Winter Sports: Swiss Snow Sports
A great variety of the Swiss snow sports are here shown. Commencing with toboganning round a steep circular descent, and next in increasing numbers down a precipitous incline, ladies and gentlemen in singles and pairs, several carrying flags and other trophies as they whisk merrily past. Still toboganning at high speed, they next engage in many games-grab apple, tilting at the ring, cleaving the champagne bottle, &c., and in these the lady competitors, who are numerous, show up to great advantage. In the final bout, where mixed couples come down together and "dump" into a huge snow heap at great velocity, the fun is brought to a climax.

Winter Sports: Fun with Jack Frost
Opening with sledge loads of holiday makers leaving the hotel shown afterwards careering along the roadway through beautiful winter landscape. Sledging on the ice, with ladies and gents yoked in as "horses." Then a most animated Tug-o'-War, in which the efforts of all, especially the fair sex, to keep their feet on the ice is exceedingly laughable. Tumbles and slips are frequent, but all enjoy the fun immensely ; and next at ice-hockey, with lady as goal keeper, the tun waxes fast and furious. Figure-skating by lady and gentleman is next shown, and afterwards a magnificent exhibition of difficult and intricate figure skating is given by a gentleman expert. Timber laden bullock sledges in parties make up a fine finish to a really good picture.

John Woodward, left the 87th Regiment at Mt Rainier for Sun Valley to produce winter training films on ski safety, snow camping, ski first aid, ski mountaineering, and ski equipment.

A great Canadian Winter sport. The toboggans are seen coming from over the top of the chute, which is nearly one mile long, appearing as a mere speck on the screen. As they come closer they grow and finally appear clear and distinct and life size upon the screen. They pass in rapid succession at a speed of forty miles an hour.
