A song scene of a vaudeville act starring Tommy Lorne as a shopkeeper with a daughter vying for his attention while he is attempting to serve two well-to-do female customers. An early Phonofilm sound film.
Nervo and Knox In Their Famous Dance Scene: The Love of Phtohtenuse
A vaudeville sketch act set in Roman era. A servant woman dances but is sent away by Emperor Caesar, who is continuously hailed by his personal assistant. Jimmy Nervo and Teddy Knox (later of The Crazy Gang comedy team) come in to entertain the emperor by performing a slapstick comedy dance. An early sound film, using Phonofilm with spoken gags by Caesar and his entourage take place largely throughout. The BFI print appears to be edited with parts in the wrong order. The surviving film is also incomplete.
The Coffee Stall
A film of a stage sketch c. 1927 where two sailors visit a coffee stall whilst walking through London at night and various surreal events take place, with the two sailors eventually ending up running the stall themselves. A De Forrest Phonofilm production.
