A film on Eucharist in the Episcopal Church that relates the experience of liturgy to the experience of life everyday. The film expresses this relationship by focusing on the lives of four people in the congregation: a street person, a Vietnamese refugee, a Hispanic single mother, and a well-to-do businessman. Scenes from their lives are woven through the liturgical celebration.
Jakub Jan Ryba – Česká mše vánoční „Hej, mistře!“
An indispensable symbol of Christmas. J. J. Ryba's most popular composition performed by A. Poláčková, V. Hajnová, P. Nekoranec, J. Šťáva, the En arché chamber choir, the Česká píseň mixed choir, and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by J. Bělohlávek. The Czech Christmas Mass, also known as the "Hey, Master" Mass, in Latin Missa solemnis Festis Nativitatis D. J. Ch. acomodata in linguam bohemicam musicam – que redacta per Jac. Joa. Ryba, is a Czech-language church composition by this year's jubilee celebrant Jakub Jan Ryba (1765–1815). Although it is structured in the same way as a Latin musical mass with parts of the ordinary (Kyrie, Gloria, etc.), it is a pastoral play applied to traditional liturgy; the story tells of the annunciation of Christ's birth and the arrival of the shepherds at the manger. The Czech Christmas Mass has a purely pastoral character, set in a Czech environment.
Marija Panna přečistá
Zuzana Lapčíková's Christmas jazz project. The Advent and Christmas songs of singer and cimbalom player Zuzana Lapčíková are based on ancient hymnals and orally transmitted melodies. Together with her quintet, however, she transforms them into contemporary, jazz-influenced music that oscillates between genres. On one day during the pre-Christmas period, musicians gathered in the Gothic church of St. Catherine in Šebrov to perform a musical mass for the locals. In an intimate chamber atmosphere, full of silence and humility before the Creator, Zuzana Lapčíková's original project "Panna Marija přečistá" (The Blessed Virgin Mary) resounds.
