Jason and Midget are two young, black teenagers living in Newark, New Jersey, the unofficial car theft capital of the world. Their favourite pastime is that of everybody in their neighbourhood: stealing cars and joyriding. The trouble starts when they steal a police car and the cops launch a violent offensive that involves beating and even shooting suspects.
Thug Life in D.C.
Aundrey Burno, a black youth looking down the wrong end of a murder charge -- for which a conviction could result in a lifetime in prison -- appears to be the epitome of an unrepentant thug. Speaking to viewers, he claims to have done whatever was necessary to survive on the mean streets, to earn the respect of his criminal peers. But as his case progresses and his younger brother, Kevin, faces the same choices he did -- to become a thug or not -- a very different Aundrey reveals himself.
The Color of Pride
In a school marked by silences and veiled prejudices, a group of Black students finds in the Black Well-Being Circle a space for listening, acceptance, and sharing. Through personal stories, pain, and dreams, they learn to transform experiences of exclusion into collective strength. When the time comes to speak in front of the whole school, Nala realizes that her voice represents not only herself, but an entire generation that insists on affirming: they belong.

We Came to Heal” follows H.O.L.L.A!’s Healing Justice Movement - over a three years period capturing Healing Justice circles, the Healing Justice Summits and H.O.L.L.A!’ s human healing-centered praxis led by The Youth Organizing Collective (Y.O.C). We believe to move towards healing you need to create a space to build, to grow, and share our stories. Alone we are strong spirited, but together we are unstoppable in the fight to end all forms of violence in our Nation, our families and all relationships.
